Such a beautiful story for another mother and daughter. Gave as a gift to my little 3.5 year old cousin and her mother on her "Gotcha Day" anniversary. My aunt is a landscape designer and loves passing on her love of nature to her daughters, so this was absolutely perfect!

I first got this book from the library to read to my class for our unit on plants. I loved it so much i ended up buying it. Its great to incorporate writing into our reading and science lesson and the kids love to be able to come up with their own ideas of what their gardens would look like.

I can't wait to give this to my daughter in her Easter basket. She loves all of the Kevin Henkes picture books: A Good Day, Kitten's First Full Moon, Old Bear, and Little White Rabbit. I know she will love this one. And I can't wait to talk about the garden project we will be embarking on and be imaginative and talk about what she would like to grow in her pretend garden like the girl in the story. She also loves the mice books from Kevin Henkes. Thank you Kevin Henkes!!

My girls love Kevin Henkes books. This one did not disappoint. Borrow it from our local library, and decided we wanted a copy of our own. Beautiful and simple illustrations. Charming, simple stories.

I was not sure of this one, as I have two grandsons who love plants right now. I thought maybe with the girl on the front, it wouldn't suit them. They both love this book. The 5 yr. old likes that he can have the garden his way and the 2 yr old likes the beauty of the flowers and that they would grow back when cut. We read this one several times a day and both boys sit to listen when one chooses it.

Me and my daughter LOVE this book. Gets the imagination going...we always read it and then talk about what kind of things we would grow in our garden if we could grow anything we wanted.

Beautifully illustrated book that typifies Kevin Henkes' gift as a children's writer. Both of my kids love it even though I bought it for my daughter when she was four. It is a great gift for the Easter basket or for a spring/summer birthday.

Last spring my 3 year old granddaughter and I planted a garden. We are getting ready to plant one again. I thought that she would like some ideas of what to plant in HER garden. Cute book, made her think and wonder. Some of the important things to take away from reading.

After reading the glowing reviews for this book, I just had to get it and see what the fuss was about. I was cynical though, and thought it was probably overrated. How wrong I was! When I went to the mail there was this huge package for me, and I wondered, what did i order that big? When I opened it I was astonished and delighted that "The Marilyn Encyclopedia" was so big. I thought, "a Marilyn book this big?! Boy, this has to have a lot of info and pics!" I was right! I've never seen a MM book like this or a celebrity book like this actually. I praise Mr. Victor for all his hard, hard work. To compile this must have been an an excruciating task (he said this book took 3 yrs to create and he had a lot of help) There's 334 pages of just info (and pics). And you might as well think if it as more than 334 pages; because if this was an average sized book it would have been 600 pages! That's why they had to make the pages so long and the book is so big. Mr. Victor did the impossible. From A-Z you will find how someone, something, or someplace relates to Marilyn Monroe!! For instance, there's "Elizabeth Taylor", "Biography", "Beauty", "Body", e.t.c, e.t.c. Basically you will get all the scoop you can possibly get on MM! With my collection of MM books, I THOUGHT I knew everything, heard all the quotes she said, all the quotes people said about her. But there's SO much more-and you can only find them in this book. If you are a MM fan/book enthusiast you really don't have a collection until you have this!! The ONLY thing that I didn't like a little was there were some great pics and a lot were small. I was like, "oooh that pic should have been bigger." But that couldn't bring me to give this book 4 stars; it's just too good for that! To sum up this book, Victor even has MM's phone number and social security number under "Numbers"! (Too bad it's of no use now) Get this book now! It is the best Marilyn Monroe book!

This book is easy to understand, written in a very clear way. But it's very very basic. If you don't know much about Java Servlets, this should be a very good way to start with - but if you're looking for a book with more info, this one isn't suitable. By the way, there were many strange inaccurate facts in the book. (i.e., the author says "Many people believes cookies can be a risk to user's privacy, which is obviously not true". I took an entire course about these things - Has the author EVER heard of DoubleClick? . Also, where did the author get the idea that Microsoft Access comes with Windows.. you have to buy it separately)

This book was excellent as well as well-edited (very few typos compared to other computer books). I found the JDBC sections to be very useful, especially as they relate to the web. That is a highly relevant area to be covering in servlets. The code examples are also very useful. There is a lot of coverage of JDBC in the book. It is definitely the best book on servlets that I have seen out there. My only criticism of the book is that, while it covers lots of JDBC, it barely covers session management, cookies, and some of the other issues that servlet authors need to be aware of in using the web as a communication medium. The only improvement to the book could be that it could cover less JDBC and more web-specific information. All in all this was a really good book though and the information inside of it is presented very well.

This book is excellent for people who are beginners in server-side programming. For example, the author spends some time in explaining HTML form submission, and CGI POST and GET methods. These are all very elementary and really only necessary for beginners who have not even written a single CGI program in perl or C. Fortunately, the author does not waste time on quickly introducing JDBC in one chapter, to the point where he actually shows us how to do database connection pooling. A few publicly available articles on servlets miss out this important issue for thread-safe processing of a servlet (where a single servlet can actually handle multiple services at the same time due to the multiple threading nature of servlets). However, one issue that the author does not spend enough time on is maintaining session information. This is very important for writing, for example, a shopping cart servlet for E-commerce.

I flicked through this title in the bookshop, while looking for some good servlet titles. The coverage of this book is pretty shallow - for example their only mention of cookies is an API listing. Most servlet books cover cookies and session management, as well as more advanced (but related) servlet topics. I'd highly recommend "Inside Servlets : Server-Side Programming for the Java Platform" by Dustin R. Callaway instead.

Moss is good in JDBC, so nearly 1/3 of the book focus on JDBC instead of java servlets, if you are really want to learn servlets, don't buy this book.As I said above, the book focus on JDBC, not servlet, so the material covered on servlet is not enough, especially for beginner, they may not even know how to get a parameter from a form.Read oreally or wrox instead, don't buy this book if you really want to learn servlet. Only buy this when you like JDBC on java servlet.

This is an excellent example of an experienced programmer wanting to impart everything about a subject to the public.This book provides a great introduction and explanation of the complexities of distributed java computing, but it then goes into the deepest aspects aswell.If you have to own any book about Java programming this should be in your top 3.Also included are great examples that are worked through in the book and technology to test them with the jRun tool (which includes the Servlets API) and a Web server.

Begining Servlets 101, JRUN, SUN's JVM, some JDBC, too. But where are the real servlets issues such as session tracking, cookie, security, digital certificates etc...etc.. I have not had any practical use for the book since I bought it. Everytime I turn to it for some answers I end up with nothing. So it's now a door stopper. The book SUCKs! You'd be a 1000 times better off getting Jason Hunt's book on Java Servlets Programming -- that is the best by far.

If you are looking to learn how to program java servlets this box will give you a great start. This book had very few examples.

He was not "perfect"... scientific rigor sometimes lacking... but deserves to be remembered for the good he did, and the way he "kept going" though a life that wasn't easy.Oh! And the photos are superb. One or two haunting.

This book is written for young adults or children making it a fast & easy read. Also includes many very nice photos. Barbara Davis's book has more photos and a lot more details about his life. It is all in what you want.

Edward Curtis saw a world few others had seen. He capture these real people on his camera for the future and for posterity.

I had another edition of this book which I lent to a friend. In that edition I seem to remember that there were more full page photos taken by Curtis.

This is an excellent biography of Edward S. Cutis. It is a clear look at his life and work. The author writes in a easy reading manner about the ups and downs of the man's life. It contains samples on almost every page of his photos. Since Curtis extensively studied American Indians, this is also a good reference for several rarely talked about tribes!

Sara J. Kadolph is a retired professor emeritus of Apparel, Merchandising, and Design at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she taught for 30 years. She taught several courses related to textiles: chemistry, dyeing, quality assurance, and conservation. Dr. Kadolph is the recipient of numerous teaching, advising, and professional awards including teaching excellence awards from the International Textiles and Apparel Association, Iowa State University, and the Iowa Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. She was the inaugural holder of the Donna R. Danielson Professorship in Textiles and Clothing. She is a Fellow of the International Textiles and Apparel Association and a Wakonse Fellow.   Dr. Kadolph has consulted with companies in the textile complex to solve quality problems, educate product development/design teams, select materials, assess textile performance, write specifications, and develop quality assurance programs. Her teaching and research scholarship has been published in the Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, the Journal of the Society of International Natural Dyeing, the Journal of the Korean Society for Clothing Industry, The Journal of Consumer Education, the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, the International Journal of Clothing and Science Technology, and others. Her Textiles book with Pearson Education is used in colleges and universities throughout the world.     Sara B.
