This cookbook has been extremely fun to explore with. At first glance I expected standard run of the mill recipes for cook outs and camping...boy was I surprised. While there are recipes to be used over an open fire, this book exposes all the great uses of the black iron skillet in your kitchen! Who would have thought about making lasagna in a skillet? But even the lasagna had twists on the recipe. Even the traditional type recipes have twists in the ingredients. As an example, it would be no surprise to find a recipe for fried chicken in this type of cookbook, but this recipe has some crazy good flavors I could not have imagined (don't want to give away the recipe!). My 6 year old said they were "the best chicken fingers she ever had!What makes this cookbook even more fun is the two authors share an anecdote on each recipe about where they got the idea, or a story about the first time they made it. I spent an hour just going through the cookbook and reading the anecdotes. The two authors clearly enjoy cooking and they bring that enthusiasm to you in their personal stories.I have now made 5 or six of the items in the cookbook and they have all been hits! Get this cookbook for your kitchen.

We received an old-fashioned cast iron skillet as a wedding gift more than 40 years ago. We put it to use, until it became so rusted from neglect that we consigned it to the back of a cupboard each time we moved. Being young, soon-to-be yuppies, we chose the newest, most expensive poshly-named cookware of the time, somehow losing track of that old-timey cast iron workhorse somewhere in one of our many relocations. In the intervening years, we've bought and cast away several pans and skillets, and I've now come back to my cooking roots, and those of the brilliant, practical home cooks of my upbringing. I bought a new Lodge cast iron skillet a couple of weeks ago, and have been dazzling my family with luscious, crispy roast chicken and sizzling fajitas. "One Pan to Rule Them All..." is a delight to read; it is witty, warm, and informative. I bought a copy for myself and one for my newly-married son. I highly recommend this book, and the magic pan it celebrates!

To make your prep even easier, all you need is One Pan. It really means only One Pan. As far as the recipes.....well, all you have to do is try them and you will be hooked on this type of cooking. They will satisfy any pallet. This book guides you through the purchasing and care of your Cast-Iron, as well. Worth the purchase and you will enjoy.

Have tried several so far - eggplant parm, roasted caulifower and apple crisp. Easy to make, kitchen smells great. This may become my go-to cookbook.

I am a big fan of LOTR so I just couldn't pass up a book with a title like that. I'm so glad I did purchased it. Many of the recipes only need a few ingredients and the pictures are full page.

Had to get this just for the title! :) I do love cooking in cast iron and there are several recipes that I love and will use often.

This is quickly becoming a kitchen staple. The recipes are easy to follow and delicious! There are fun and interesting backstories throughout. Highly recommend you try the brownies--made them for a cookout and they were a huge hit!

I just got this cookbook and I love it! I made the mac and cheese and it was so good. I added bacon and substituted ricotta for the sour cream- probably would have been a little creamier with the latter but it was delicious! Can't wait to make my next dish.

Most of them are notnames that were familiar to me, but include theologians, philosophers, therapists, priests involved with Courage ministry,pastoral ministers, as well as personal witnesses to conversion from the homosexual lifestyle. While the editors are JanetSmith, who always supports the Church teaching but also the diversity of voices within it, with Fr. Paul Check (and inspirationfrom Fr. John Harvey) perhaps the protagonist is Eve Tushnet and the spiritual friendship movement, which is the minority voicein this book. A number of the others caution about identifying as gay and basing friendship upon physical attraction which can blurthe lines between friendship and romance. Nothing seems as fraught with strong opinion and divisive behavior as attempts to discuss same sex attraction (SSA) in contemporary society. The authors of this collection of studies for a conference on the topic of SSA show a way forward by bringing together voices from across the spectrum to seek out a middle way between the either/or, take-it-or-leave-it demagoguery on both sides of this topic.

I am not sure who the intended audience is. I envisioned a book for facility managers and nonelectrical engineers, but it is mostly pitched below that level.It is clearly not intended for someone trying to understand the issues involved in distributed generation below utility scale, energy storage, or backup generation, which are not mentioned. Wind and solar get brief mentions with no discussion of technical issues., Cogeneration is covered briefly in terms of energy efficiency. High-voltage DC transmission gets some coverage..If you have an intellectual curiosity about the present electrical transmission and distribution system, and the basics of system stability, this is probably a good starting point. Those topics are pitched at a somewhat higher level. But the treatment of these topics will be more understandable if you already know a bit more about ac power than the book presents.Maybe its best use is as a summary of how the industry was thinking 10-15 years ago, and thus by implication how much things have changed.

I tend to agree it is a good place to start by looking at the utility side. But the underlying problem is the conflict between the NEC and the Utility code which is based on cost saving and not safety. Realistically this will not change short of litigation

Great book. Helps simply explain the how & why, which is what I was looking for.

As noted by other reviewers, this book is intended as a comprehensive low- or non-technical introduction for professionals that are not in the industry. As such, it succeeds very well. At no point should the discussions be difficult to understand, even for non-technical professionals. It also provides a good perspective on all of the industry, rather than just one part of it. I was hoping for a little more technical presentation, but must admit that neither the book description or the reviews made that representation. Compared to other books on the electrical industry that go into more detail and are more specialized, the price of the book is very reasonable. (I bought a used one.)

The book, although crazy expensive for a small paperback, covers a wide range of topics lightly - but well enough to better understand and converse with those in the industry.

As a non-electrical engineer, the book introduced me to a lot of new concepts, however it needs a bit more elaboration on some parts. It does point the reader to other learnings.

This is a reader-friendly source book for anyone who wants better high-level understanding of electric power systems. Loaded with illustrative images and simple diagrams, this is an excellent supplement for a student or curious layman.

This book is an excellent primer to the language and elementary physics of the utility industry and provides a good introduction to the gross architecture of the power generation and delivery value chain.
