Most of the songs are a fair treatment. The music is sometimes an inaccurate transcription of the melody; you'll sometimes play a note that fits the chord of the song; but not what the lead singer sang. Some portions of the song may be left out because they were not sung by anybody. A good example of this is Yellow Submarine. I believe the lyrics says something like "...the band begins to play" followed by a comical, bouncy tune in 6/8 time. This book does not have that part.To play these like The Beatles' sang them, listen to the original and copy their style. Learn to sing the songs with the Beatles, then play the songs out of this book with the same rhythm and notes, which will occasionally be different from this book. Too bad the transcriptions are not in the same key as the originals so you can play along because they were not transcribed for B flat trumpet.

Huge selection from the Beatles catalogue and all tunes are easy to moderate to play. So far I've been enjoying this book.

Has some variations to original songs, but they are easy to play as far as range and the 'keys' they are written in. There are a lot of songs in this booklet.

There is a large range of skill levels so you can grow into the book...That being said it is designed for beginner / intermediate players...I have the trombone version so I can play tunes with my Granddaughter...

Grandson loved this! He is 11 and just starting his 3rd year of trombone. It arrived on time and in super condition.

A really interesting meditation on editing and storytelling. I bought this expecting a more how-to book on editing. It is not that. It is very different than that. It's more round about and indirect. It's more about the principles around the moves you might make as an editor than any particular step by step move guide. But given that, it's really interesting to hear an acclaimed and accomplished novelist talk with a really talented film editor. It's really interesting to hear about their tricks for story telling and how they relate. It's more about how to tell a story in general than how to edit or write in particular. But as far as that goes it is completely memorable and very instructional.

This is a wonderful book -- five stars for insight, not only about movie editing but about how a brilliant craftsman uses his broader knowledge to enhance his work. and as the record of a conversation, a pleasure to read. less than five stars for the quality of the paperback edition, however. the paper is cheap and the photograph illustrations, which do so much to clarify meaning in the hardback version, are blurred and flat in the paperback, a definite disappointment. i'm thinking of writing off my purchase and finding a replacement hardback.

An excellent book for anyone interested in the king of audio in the movies. Walter Murch may no be a household name, but his movies are. I loved reading this book and the stories Walter would tell about how he discovered something or what drove him to try something. His passion really comes through in everything he says.

It taught me a lot about film editing - which is useful for book editing too. I read anything Ondaatje writes, and enjoyed reading of the friendship between the two men.

I don't usually like Q&A-style interviews, but this book is a notable exception because it's more like eavesdropping on a private conversation between two very savvy colleagues. Murch has some original and intriguing things to say about the ways he approaches his art (like theorizing that movie music reinforces an existing emotion--rather than inspiring one). Here's looking forward to his next book--the one in which he posits his notational scheme for cinema. It sounds like a crackpot idea, rather like that musical I wisely never wrote in which each instrument corresponded to a different bodily function. I suspect Murch can deliver on his dream, if anyone can.

I loved this book because it is intensely literary and thoughtful. It gives great insights into the creative process which transcends film, sound, and writing; and Ondaatje's thoughtful questions are a huge part of what makes the book great. If it were just a 'normal' author interviewing Murch, they wouldn't have gotten to half the interesting topics which they end up covering. This book is also wonderful because it's such a departure from other books -- it's not trying to fit a type or a genre of writing, so it seems to end up in this essential but interstitial place in between 'how to' 'memoir' and 'philosophy of'. The first couple dozen pages are a bit slow as Ondaatje finds his footing, but after that, the book is compelling.

I highly recommend this book to photographers, filmmakers, and any other creative people where editing is an essential part of the creative process. I own a copy that was given to me as a present some years ago. The two copies that I purchased recently were to give to two young film students, one in upstate New York, the other in Mexico City.Many thanks for carrying itSylvia

When you've got a great writer, Michael Ondaatje, and a compelling topic, movies, it's hard to miss. That assumes, of course, that, like me, you're hooked on words and movies both. If that profile fits you as well, you will find this volume highly worthwhile. By the way--and not a surprise, I suppose--there are great photos.

Actually I was pleasantly surprised by this book as it was a quick cheap buy just for something to read. Although I enjoy mysteries and detective novels I'm not usually a fan of thrillers. However, this was an easy read and well written. The author managed to keep up the level of excitement and at the same time give good descriptions of the setting.I will add that I rarely give 4 or 5 star reviews unlike too many Amazon readers I reserve these scores for excellent books so a three star review from me, is exactly that I enjoyed the book and the price is excellent. I will read another book by this author.

This is a very well written, scary, suspenseful story which totally grabbed me. Here in this story, Adam and his wife, Ella, have been torn apart about the death of their son Jacob. Jacob's twin brother, Henry, is estranged as he is feeling guilty of causing the accident. Now, they all need to leave their home where the accident occurred. They were invited to live in an old house which had a reputation of being haunted. Just how haunting will it be? This novel totally grabbed me. There are many twists and secrets which will keep you guessing and intrigued to the very end.

Should be 2 1/2 stars, but the descriptions were vivid and understandable. Writer (who writes with pen and paper in the computer age), accidentally causes the death of one of his twins, or imagines he did. Surviving twin on a guilt trip, writer on guilt trip, wife on guilt trip. Out of the blue they "win" the right to live in an old, beautiful, slightly run down mansion...under certain conditions. Writer and kid 'have to' live there. Wife not so much. Of course there is no cel service. Crazy old lady who owns the house lives on the property in a separate cottage. She can't occupy the house because "Mother" lives there, family members have disappeared from there, but if she croaks they get to keep the house if they didn't violate any of the certain conditions. The whole house is a warren of secret passages but everyone runs around with candelabras because, even though it's the computer age, no one has a flashlight, or a mobile with a flashlight, or a lantern. Are local Goth nut cases breaking in the house or is it ghosts? They also seem to be fond of running out into the dark along the cliffs. Throw in a know-it-all professor, reappearing dead people, a possibly murderous offspring...hey, there's even a dog. What more could you want? A sequel....noooooo!

I really had no idea how things were going to end up at the end of this book! There were moments I physically tensed up because I was so caught up with what was going on. The story was, for me anyway, something rather different than what I'm normally used to, but I really enjoyed it. There were a few places where the proof reader needed to make corrections in the Kindle version- but those instances were very few compared to many other books I have read. It's a good book with a different kind of mystery (mysteries) going on.

This was quite a good story, so different. It makes you think did this really happen or was it all something that Adam did just to get his story written? The details make for a good story, but it does leave you with questions about who really did kill Faith, was it Henry and Bella? Did Penny really have the DNA from Fenton House ? Will there be a follow up story or will we never know? Could have been just a book he was writing.

Rating: 4.5 stars. Perhaps it's because I've been a dark mood as of late, but I was immediately caught up in the brooding atmosphere created by Ben Cheetham. To his credit, the story didn't let me go until I finished the book in just two late night sessions.Rather than speak to, and ultimately give away, any details I will simply recommend 'Don't Look Back' to anyone who enjoys a tense and twisting tale and is not afraid of the darkness of the human soul and mind where the real haunting takes place. I didn't give the full five stars only because of a few minor editorial issues and my own desire, unfulfilled as it might have been, to have a more drawn out and descriptive ending.

A family tragedy gives a husband, wife and young son a chance at a new, healing life when they are offered an old mansion to live in for free. What follows, is a family trying to heal their personal lives while mysterious sounds, secret passageways and odd villagers attempt to scare them away. A good story to keep you reading to the very end to find out what "haunts" the old house. Well worth the read.

Very good reading. The book I bought on my Kindle and had a hard time putting it down. I at first thought I had the person causing all the problems figured out, but soon realized it was someone else or maybe not a person at all. Very interesting read. Will read more of his books.
