Book has more words than actual content. A lot of repetition and talking around the core concepts. I would have thoroughly enjoyed a shorter and more concise version, especially considering he is only presenting recycled material. That being said, this book will tremendously aid the average modern man, that's if he can gather the main points out of all the fluff, and then continues to research from more expert sources.

It goes beyond just diet. He has done a great job explaining a multifaceted approach to increasing testosterone. I think this author has more to give in respects to advice for men in general. His youtube videos are worth checking out too. I look forward to future books by this talented author.

I'm an experienced road rider, toured 45 of the 48, several Canadian Provinces... ridden big BMW highway machines at high speeds for long distance and logged thousands and thousands of miles. So getting on a little dirt bike for some off road fun after 35 years of being away from riding the in the dirt should be a cake walk, right?? Sure.... three hours later it looked like I'd been dragged behind that motorcycle rather than having tried to ride it, Yeah... I provided endless amusement for the experienced riders I was with... lucky to get away with no dental damage just some minor flesh wounds....Nothing to do but buy a dirt bike and start over from scratch with forgotten skills. This book starts with the very basics, recommends riding exercises to build skill with obstacles, balance, and fundamentals. This old dog is learning new tricks and this is the guidebook for that. My guess is that someone with a good grip on skills might use this more as a refresher, but for someone like myself on the climbing up to the bottom rung, it is great!!!!

Good Stuff! Gary knows his stuff. I loved the book and then I went ahead and took the class on site in Anza, California. That was incredible! I've learned so much in 1 day (more than my entire life riding on my own). I have a 650 KLR and needed more confidence off-road. I'm a small guy (140 pounds) so that big KLR with 6 its gallons fuel tank can be challenging to keep up with. Now I feel like a champion. Up hill, down hill, softest sand you can think off. I go off-road almost every weekend now and I'm not afraid of anything anymore and I still haven't dropped that bike on the ground yet! This is the best investment any Rider should make (whether you go off-road or not). I sent all my friends to it and I will send my kids this summer.

Second, it is concise with easy to implement tricks and techniques that build skill and confidence. Third, it is as good for beginners as it is for super experienced experts. This is the quintessential book for riding dirt bikes. Gary's methods teach riders the core skills (many of which are counterintuitive) that translate into advanced techniques with practice. I started riding in my thirties, and as an occasional weekender have always felt a few steps behind in my understanding. This book breaks down all aspects of riding and, with practice, opens up all the mysteries that lead to more confidence and ultimately, smoother, faster more confident riding. My 11 yr old son and I have read through this book several times AND taken classes at the Washington State franchise of Motoventures, and had a blast. We will continue to use this curriculum and take more classes.

I read the book right before taking the course with Gary as my instructor. My purpose was to increase my skills and expand my riding options and the book in combination with Gary's instruction did just that. Both the book and class are well worth the time and $ invested.

I've been a street rider for quite a while. I recently picked up trail riding. On one of my recent outings I hurt my foot pretty bad so I had some time off. I decided to pick up this book to educate myself and learn better off road riding techniques.The book is well written and entertaining. It has some good visual aids and does a pretty good job of explaining various techniques used on a dirt bike. There are lots of drills that you can use to practice at the end of each chapter.This book seems like a good primer or refresher for off road riding, but the key will be to get out and practice. There's just no replacement for time spent on the bike.

Through regular practice this book will improve your offroad skills. Having a background in music, I find it rare to find an educational book that approaches any new skill with the requirement of regular practice and a step by step growth on new skills. (A definite pedagogical approach.) This book has that and more. It will take you as far as you want to go with your skills and provides excellent advice on what bikes to start with. Great book. Wish I had more areas to practice near my home, but when I do get to areas that I can practice this book will be in my saddle bag.

Joseph was a widower at the time of his bethrothal to the Virgin Mary who remained a virgin her whole life.Jesus and James were not biologically related since Joseph is the foster father of Jesus son of God.By emphasizing James the brother of Jesus, the author is putting an over emphasis on a the familiar relationship of being simply called a brother without spelling out the details that in reality James was a half brother through a prior marriage to St.Joseph which would not be a blood relation.The author clearly is twisting a tradition that is held not just by Catholics but also Orthodox Christians going back to the earliest centuries.And implying that somehow Jesus and James had closer family relations that unnecessarily put into question the perpetual virginity of Mary Mother of God.Nowhere in the words of this book is that detail even clairified.

This scholarly treatment of the life and work of the apostles leaves me with an enduring sense of awe for the way God entrusted the message of the gospel to them. Shelton's in depth portrayal of their legacy is truly inspirational. This book gives me a new appreciation of the legitimacy of the apostolic authority of the New Testament as Scripture.

Really enjoyed reading about each apostles supposed journeys and how each was marked by a faith to purse and to spread the message and gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

I quite enjoyed the journey the Author took me on, as we waded through History, Legend and Myth in a search for the fate of Jesus' disciples. From my youth, I have always "wished" that Luke had given us more info about what happened to them - even with Paul at the end of Acts, we have him under house arrest and still carrying on his ministry.I also enjoyed how the Author frequently relates some of the more colourful "acts" that are written in various Apocryphal and Pseudepigraphical works - and I also appreciated the fairness with which he treated many of these works.It would've be nice to have a few more chapters (or a followup book) that covered people such as James (the brother of Christ), Mary (the mother of Christ), Barnabas, Luke, John Mark, Apollos, etc...This book is well referenced and indexed - which I always like :)

I absolutely loved this book! So much of what happened to the Apostles after the ascension of Christ is speculation, and has driven this Bible Nerd absolutely nuts. "The Quest for the Historical Apostles" was such a treasure. The author's drive to find the factual truth behind the Apostles was refreshing and mirrored my own heartfelt quest to learn more about these astounding men. But the author's drive and determination to stay true to authenticity is what drove me to the end of the book. It was a brilliant journey, one that I will happily reread again in the near future.

As a Bishop whose specialty is ecclesiology, I've read several books about the historical Apostles.Out of all I've read and referenced, this text is one of the best.The format and structure of the material is presented in a manner which balances narrative and reference. It's both a handbook and a story.The scholarship is wonderful with an abundance of citations.

I heard the author on "Stuff you Missed in History Class." I geeked out and ordered the book hoping my 7 year old would be into it. He is! Not in a macabre way, but in a budding little history buff type of way. We've been reading a chapter together every night. Scout's illustrations are charming!

I was introduce to Bryan Young as a Star Wars fan, when I saw him on a panel at Star Wars Celebration. Since then I've been following him through his Full of Sith podcast. That is where I heard about his new book. My son has just started to get interested in history, and as I myself am a big history buff, I couldn't wait to start sharing the fascinating stories that pepper our past. This book came out at the perfect time and my son and I have had a blast learning and talking with each other. Thank you Bryan for such a fun and informative way me to share one of my loves with my son.

It might seem strange to have a book with this topic for kids but it's very interesting and opens up windows into a lot of parts of American history and society. I read it before I gave it to my friend's 8 year old and we talked about it. It is in that sweet spot of what kids are fascinated with.

Fun, educational, depending on your child’s age you may want to read first given your own household’s views.

Never too young to learn about history and presidents are a favorite of my 8 year old nephew. He loved this book as did I. Wonderful.

I think this is Jane Harper's best book to date. Her dry, slow-reveal story is absolutely compelling and I simply didn't want to put it down. It begins with the horrific discovery of Cameron Bright, son, brother, husband, father, being found dead at an old unknown stockman's grave on the family property. Normally he, like everyone in the harsh, remote Queensland outback, has water, food and supplies to last a couple of days in his car. And yet Cam's car - in perfect working order - is found too far away for him to (1) walk to it, and (2) access the radio and the life-saving food and water. His death is an inexplicably horrible mystery, and it falls to Cam's brother Nathan to try and figure out what really happened. Nathan is riding his own demons, and we find out exactly what they are through the book. He lives on an impoverished property next door to the family spread, desperately scrabbling to eke out a living, a virtual outcast. The only person who visits is his teenage son (an excellent character, finely drawn), on leave from school, and the local policeman and health worker. Nathan's not that welcome in town, either, because past events have condemned him in their eyes. Working past all the stigma is not easy, but he has to step up to try and figure out Cam's death. The Australian outback is like an added character in this story. It is harsh, crucifyingly, relentlessly boiling hot, totally unforgiving, keeping its secrets. Nothing is easy. All kudos to Jane Harper for writing a brilliant story. I'm not going to give anything away, because the secrets of the story are all part of the onion-layer-peel reveal through the book - and the staggering shocks really do keep coming. Each new fact makes you think you know where the story's going to head - but it doesn't, it twisted and turned and lurched just where you didn't expect. I loved the way I had no idea about the end. An amazing read. Thanks to Beauty & Lace Bookclub and Pan McMillan for the review copy.

I loved her first two books but found this one extremely grim and her main character Nathan unbelievable. It wasn’t credible to me that a man who’d been relatively social would accept 9 years of complete isolation and ostracism while managing a ranch he considered worthless given to him by a man he hated! He cared only for his son 1500km away but made no effort to live closer to him though he still had a share in family property of value. He hadn’t even talked to his brothers or mother in 6 months. He turned off his generator from sunset to sunrise and had nothing to do but lie in the dark, plus someone poisoned his dog! (These aren’t even plot spoilers). The family drama seemed rather banal and overwrought. I had hoped for a lot more from this author.

The Lost Man is a page-turner thanks to a great character set and perfect pacing. What makes this thriller unforgettable, though, is the skill with which the author makes the beautiful yet brutal setting such a large part of the story. Even if you've never considered touring the Outback, this book will make you yearn for the red dust and the cobalt sky - and even for the relentless heat.I read the book in one weekend, and I want to read it again.This is not an Aaron Falk mystery, although attentive readers will spot an oblique reference to The Dry within the pages of this book.

In each of her novels Jane Harper manages to make the landscape, and in this case the brutality and unforgiving nature of it, another character. Ultimately, this is less of a mystery than her previous two books and more of a family saga, but a family hiding big secrets. Unlike her previous novels, this keeps to one narrator and is a tighter story for that.Harper manages a slow reveal of family secrets and dynamics through the stress and distress of the death of Cam, one of three brothers. There is a beautifully nuanced look at the relationship between Nathan, the oldest of the brothers, and his son, visiting him for Christmas.The body of Cam, the middle son, is found at the Stockman's grave, a horrible death in the searing heat of the outback. As we find out more about the family: their history, dynamics, and a gradually changing view of their relationships, we hear different character's varying takes on the story of the stockman which is a fascinating look into their own character.Highly recommended.
